Project Overview

A road resurfacing scheme was carried out along a country lane in Swarkestone to restore the carriageway and improve overall driving conditions.

The works involved the installation of a new 40mm surface course, requiring a consistent finish across a rural stretch of road. Careful planning and coordination ensured the project was delivered efficiently within a short timeframe. A Vögele Super 1303-3i paver was utilised to achieve a high-quality, uniform finish throughout.

Project Details

  • Location: Swarkestone

  • Client: Derby City Council

  • Area Paved: 2,800m²

  • Programme: 1 day

  • Machine: Vögele Super 1303-3i

  • Material: AC10 Asphalt (40mm surface course)

The Challenge

Working within a single-day programme required precise planning and efficient execution to ensure all works were completed on time without compromising quality.

The narrow country lane also presented space constraints, requiring careful coordination of plant and material deliveries while maintaining safe working conditions. Achieving a consistent finish across varying sections of the existing road added further complexity.

The Solution

The compact and highly manoeuvrable Vögele Super 1303-3i was selected for its ability to operate effectively within restricted rural environments. Its performance enabled the team to maintain productivity while achieving a consistent surface finish.

A well-organised paving operation ensured continuous material supply and efficient workflow, allowing the team to meet the tight one-day programme.

The Results

The resurfacing works were successfully completed within the planned one-day schedule.

The finished surface provides a smooth, durable carriageway, improving ride quality and extending the lifespan of the road for local users.
